Plein Aire at the Riverside Waterfall

One of the outings for my KCAI Plein Air painting class was at the Riverside Mo Waterfall. It looks like it’s in a nature area but the location is right down the road from the Red X grocery store. Right off the main drag in Riverside Missouri.  Still, the waterfall is very beautiful and a great area for painting. The park is more cosmetic than a real park but people use the walk ways often and this waterfall is a good site for taking graduation, wedding and couples photos.  When we arrived the park was dark and sun came in partially so the challenge was getting a scene that was true to the time of day.

Here’s the same waterfall with my two beautiful grandchildren. We often come here to shoot our photos.

When we first arrived the waterfall was in the shadows.  I like this and it takes a really good plein air artist to capture the light.  I will try that next.

This is the photo I took as the morning was leaving and we were in full sun.  The moss on the water was interesting.

There were only five artists that met.  We had to show our paintings.
