Familiar Lips, Looks, and Calacas
Three new pieces, three different stories.
The first is one that reminds me of a cousin in Chicago.  I had a photo of her as a child and realise her daughter looks identical to her photo.  Looking at  more of our family photos I notice other similarities.  I love looking at our lips, they are the same, and more noticeable in our children.  Funny how things seem to identify you in your family, noses, lips, eyes, the swirl of you hair, the cowlick.  All link you to one another.
I will call her Lucy

Watching the Agents of Shield, a show about an elite team of exceptional people saving earth from others that intend to destroy it. Yeah I like Stan Lee movies. Both my husband and I are fans. I doodled me giving my husband that “look” that causes a “what?” return from him. Love messing with him. I will call her Catalina.

October is time for the calacas to come out!  I don’t get into the whole “Day of the Dead” Mexican custom of celebrating our dead with alters and foods.  I do like to paint the calaca doing interesting things like having fun in their deathy garb.  I would hope that my heavenly garb will be a beautiful new skin and heavenly attire.
